What To Do List for the First Week of June:

I was busy flipping through my paper planner (yes, I still use a paper planner...deal with it) and I realized that there are a lot of fun things coming up in the next week here in Detroit Rock City. So, I thought I would give you a quick rundown of all the fun things you should be doing!

Saturday, June 2nd:

Black Dahlia Murder with Exhumed, Fuck the Facts and Beast In the Field at St. Andrews Hall (431 East Congress, Detroit) - Doors are at 8 p.m. and tickets are $16 in advance. It’s always good to catch these local boys while they shred in their home territory. Make sure to get there early to catch Beast In the Field!

Deastro with special guests Smudge Candy, SSM and Le Tour at The Park Bar (2040 Park Ave., Detroit) 9 p.m.

The Hogans at Orchid Ferndale (141 W. 9 Mile, Ferndale) - Show starts at 10 p.m. $2 you call it’s till 9 p.m.!

It Came From Planet B  at Emerald Theater (31 North Walnut St., Mt. Clemens) - This is a unique combination of theater and cirque style performances. Make sure to catch The Weird Sister Circus and other cool acts at this event. We saw them at Theatre Bizarre this past Halloween and they were wonderful! For more info on this event, check out Becca's post!

Monday, June 4th:

Slow Jams at Woodbridge Pub (5169 Trumbull, Detroit) - East Side John will be spinning at 10 p.m. This is one of our favorite weekly events. This is the place to take an out of towner who wants to have a good time and see what Detroit is all about!

W.A.B. Half Off Food Night (22646 Woodward Ave., Ferndale) - Another weekly event that we do not like to miss! I love to pop into the W.A.B. for a good, cheap dinner and a great beer! You can easily walk out spending a minor $10 and be full and happy. Don't forget, in celebration of their 15th Anniversary, they added some great new menu items last week. Get more info here.

Wednesday, June 6:

Mick Bassett with All the Wild Children, Duende and Superbomb, at The Loving Touch (22634 Woodward Ave., Ferndale) at 9 p.m. - We recently caught Mick at a show in Pontiac and loved listening to him play guitar and sing. We also love The Loving Touch. Stop in for a drink and catch him live!

Mark Madness Boot Camp at the VFW Park in Royal Oak (On Campbell North of Lincoln) 7 p.m. $10 - Let mark whip your ass into shape! For more info on Mark and his boot camp check this out!

Friday, June 8th:

Up For A Weird Night? Get Over to 'It Came From Planet B!'

If you're a fan of B-movies and just plain, weird things, then you don't want to miss 'It Came From Planet B!' The event is an interesting combination of theatre and circus-style performances that will recreate the famous alien invasions from classic B-movies, but live! They even encourage people to wear costumes to the show- sci-fi, military, mad scientist, small town America, you name it! Sounds pretty awesome, right?
There will be performances by the Detroit Fire Guild, Dakini, Detroit Burlesque Company, The Weird Sisters Circus, Leilani & Narayanaya and more! I for one know how awesome the Weird Sisters Circus performances are and you won't want to miss it!

The event is going on tonight, Friday, May 18, but don't worry if you can't make it tonight. It will also be on June 1 and 2. The whole thing will be at the Emerald Theatre in Mt. Clemens and doors are at 9, with curtains at 10. You can buy tickets online here for $15 in advance, or $20 at the door. Tickets are also available at Detroit Comics, Showtime Clothing, Acme Mercantile, Emerald Theatre Box Office and Lady Luck Piercing
For more info and a description of the performers, you can read about it here

So, if you are feeling a little weird, make sure to check this out!
