Mark is taking on new clients for his personal training business, but he has also started up a few weekly one hour boot camp clinics that he calls 'Mark Madness.' Wednesday night, for $10, I joined the group at the VFW Park on Campbell in Royal Oak and learned what his class was all about.
We started off light with some jumping jacks and warm up drills, worked our way into some jump squats, Frankenstein walks and what I'm calling weird River Dance moves. We finished with some planks and different ab moves. The class kicked my ass even though I run on a regular basis!
There was a good mix of people from all different fitness backgrounds in the group. Mark worked with each of us to make sure we were having fun and not pushing ourselves too hard. He is a really kind, funny and friendly person. He showed us every move and helped us learn it if we were having a hard time. Since we were all a little skeptical, he even showed us all that he could lunge backwards across the park since he was making us do it. Sure enough he did it, and with some effort we all did too.
This class helped me learn two things about myself- one is that I have no balance and two is I cannot do a push up to save my life. So, I posed a challenge to Mark. I want to be able to do at least 20 'male' push ups by the end of the summer. He said if I keep coming and putting in the effort, he will having me doing 50! I love challenges, so I can't wait to prove him right!
He will be offering classes every Wednesday at the VFW Park at 7 p.m. for $10. He will also be offering some classes on Saturdays and Sundays. To keep up with when classes are happening add him on Facebook. He is sending out invites and updates weekly. You can also follow him on his blog for class updates and other fitness tips.
I will be there every Wednesday in two sports bras sweating like a pig. Please join me and let's get fit together this summer!

My name is Keri and I have been working out with Mark Madness for 2 months now. Since then I have lost 16lbs and ran in my first 5k last Saturday. If you are looking to lose weight or "tone up" Mark is the guy. He has an amazing ability to make working out fun!
