The Rink at Campus Martius Opens this Weekend

Photo borrowed from the Campus Martius website

This week, the Detroit area experienced weather that was unseasonably warm, with temperatures reaching the upper 70's. But, this is Michigan so it's no surprise that even though you were outside without a jacket earlier this week, by Friday it will be cold enough to lace up your ice skates.

This weekend, The Rink at Campus Martius we begin having some open skate times. The ice rink will open at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 14th, and will stay open until midnight. It will also be open on Sunday from noon until 10 p.m. The ice rink will be closed during the week but will reopen on November 20th with plans to remain open daily until March 7th. You can see the full hours of operation here

We are happy to see this staple attraction return to the city this year, despite the pandemic, however, there will of course be some new rules in place to ensure that everyone stays safe. First, skaters are required to wear a mask or face covering. Patrons are also expected to maintain 6 ft. of physical distance between themselves and others. To help ensure that this is possible, pre-sale tickets will be available for purchase online. So, if you know you want to skate on a specific day, it is suggested that you buy tickets in advance here. There will also be hand washing stations at the park, and of course, if you feel sick, please stay home.

Tickets for ice skating at The Rink at Campus Martius are $11 for adults, $9 for children 12 & under and for seniors 59 & over, and $8 for military and first responders. There is also a monthly lunchtime pass available for $30, a great option if you work downtown or live downtown and currently work from home. Don't have your own skates? Skate rental is available for $5 and that can also be purchased in advance online when you buy your tickets.
