Hip in Detroit's Guide to Halloween

October 16 & 26- Smashing Pumpkins at The Detroit Zoo - Watch as the animals at the Detroit Zoo receive fall harvest goodies that they can play with, roll around in, tear apart and smash It's all part of their daily, comprehensive program to provide habitats that are complex and engaging for the animals.

October 17, 24 & 31- Vegan Fall Cider and Donuts at Ale Mary's - Vegan donuts made fresh to order.

October 18, 19, 20, 25, 26 & 27- Zoo Boo - All 125 acres of the Detroit Zoo will be open until dark for this annual “merry-not-scary” Halloween celebration featuring a festively decorated half-mile trick-or-treat trail, magic acts, storytellers, jugglers, live music and extreme pumpkin carving.   

October 18 & 19 - Midnight Madness at The Main Art Theatre - HALLOWEEN (1978) screens on Friday, October 18th and Saturday, October 19th at midnight. Tickets are $7.

October 18-21 & 25-28 - Hallowe'en in Greenfield Village - The torches are lit, bells are tolling, skeletons are dancing and pumpkins are singing, all to make this the most stirring night of the year.

October 18 - Watch Army of Darkness at The Redford Theatre - For his third and final installment in the “Evil Dead” series of horror comedies, former Detroiter Sam Raimi sent his chainsaw-wielding hero Ash (Bruce Campbell) back to medieval times to retrieve the all-important Book of the Dead and prevent an army of ghouls from taking over the past and the future.

October 19 & 26 - Cider in the City - Blake's Cider Mill is traveling South to pop-up at Beacon park Detroit from pm - 5 pm.  This includes free family activities like make and takes in inflatables.

October 19- Young Frankenstein at The Redford Theatre - Come see Mel Brooks’s 1974 classic on the big screen.

October 18 & 19 - Theatre Bizzare - The Greatest masquerade on Earth.

October 20 & 27 - Street Beet Vegan GF Cider and Donuts - Street Beet will be popping up at Anthology Coffee at 10 am.

October 20 - Bark Bash - Spend a fall Sunday at Royal Oak's beautiful Memorial Park while we raise funds and raise awareness, with not just one, but FOUR of the Detroit areas animal welfare groups.

October 20 - The Detroit Spookshow Halloween Sale @ The Sanctuary - Numerous vendors will be on hand selling the coolest of Halloween and Horror related treasures.

October 25 - Happy Endings Halloween @ New Way Bar - Costumes encouraged, Classic Alt / Shoegaze / Brit Pop / Post-Punk / Synth Pop throughout the night.

October 25- Monster's Ball 2019 @ The Fillmore - A wickedly awesome Halloween party with a pizza buffet.

October 25 & 26 - Creepy Cheapy - A meticulously curated lineup of live bands will take over three stages and perform full-costumed covers of your favorite bands and artists!

October 26 -  Thirst Wave + Industrial Is Not Dead @ Small's - There will be Halloween tricks & treats, drink specials, and a costume contest with a cash prize!

October 26- Nosferatu @ The Senate Theatre -The Senate Theater and the Detroit Theater Organ Society present a screening of F.W. Murnau's frightful 1922 silent horror Nosferatu. Organist Scott Smith will accompany the film live on their Mighty Wurlitzer Theater Organ.

October 26 - Boo at the Nature Center - Enjoy a ghoulishly good time at this free annual event at the Belle Isle Nature Center. Visit the animals and take part in spooktacular activities! Children are encouraged to wear costumes and bring treat bags – Halloween goodies are provided to all who attend.

October 26 - Jawbreaker Fest: Above & Beyond @ The Fillmore See Above & Beyond perform live at their Jawbreaker Halloween Party! Get your tickets here.

October 27- Royal Oak Spooktacular- The traditional FREE Trick or Treating event will be taking place in downtown Royal Oak between 1-4 p.m.

October 27- Skeleton Party at Deluxx Fluxx - A costume party where everyone is a skeleton!

October 27- Weekend of Horrors at the DIA- The DIA’s Detroit Film Theatre is offering a frightening lineup of films including the newly restored versions of the original “Night of the Living Dead” and “The Old Dark House,” as well as “The Crazies”

October 27- Carving for Canines at Bagley Central- Purchase a pumpkin @ Bagley Central and carve away! They will provide tools and help clean-up. All of the proceeds from your pumpkin purchase will go to Bark Nation to assist in their compassionate mission.

October 28 - Halloween Soiree at the Fisher- This Halloween Soiree will be second to none with Palm Readers, Magicians, Live D.j., Acrobatics, Fire Entertainers, Live Jazz Band in the Ballroom and so much more! Enjoy a cocktail from our prohibition-era pub while strolling the grounds & two floors of this 18,000ft historic Mansion!

October 28- Punch Bowl Social Halloween Bash- A live DJ will spin tunes and select food specials will be available, all for no cover.

October 31- Houdini's All Hallows Eve Ball- Celebrate Halloween 1920's style. Costumes are required.

October 31- Something Cold Halloween at UFO Factory- Free + Industrial at UFO

October 31 - Nosferatu + Live Music @ The Fisher Music Center - Watch Nosferatu while the Andrew Alden Ensemble performs their live score written for the film.

October 31 - Defiled Halloween @ Small's - Residents Dj Graphite and Wraith with the best new industrial, aggrotech, EBM, and more!

October 31 - 2nd Annual Outer Limits Halloween Cover Show - See some of your favorite musicians from the area play as ICP, The Go, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blues Magoos, Grand Funk Railroad, and The Fugs. Cover is only $4 and doors are at 8 p.m.

October 31 - A Haunted Latin Trap Party @ El Club - Dance the night away with DJ Lito & DJ Savage while they play the best of Latin trap, pop, and hip-hop from J Balvin, Bad Bunny, and other favorites like Cardi B, Rosalía, Ozuna, Maluma, Sean Paul, and Anuel AA. Cover is $5, 21+ are welcome, and the party starts at 10.

October 31 - Halloween @ Bowlero w/ The 3-D Invisibles - The 3-D Invisibles will be playing monster rock at Bowlero. Cover is free, costumes are encouraged, and the music starts at 9 p.m. 18+ are welcome in the lounge and all ages are welcome in the bowling alley.

October 31 - Halloween Spectacular - Freaks, Frills & Thrills @ Willis Show Bar - It's an '80s vs. '90s Halloween party with music from The Monster Boogie Band & The Glitz Kitties Red Hot Revue. The Dapper DJ & CoveLove will be spinning tunes too and there will be food from Tempura Detroit. The bands perform at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. and cover is $15. After 11:30 p.m., go and dance for free, with no cover!

October 31 - A Bowie Halloween @ The Film Lab - Watch Bowie music videos and cult classic THE HUNGER! Plus, get free popcorn if you show up in costume (extra points for coming as Bowie himself)!

October 31 - Parkhouse presents: Tales from the Crypt @ Deluxx Fluxx - Music from DJ LiXxer, XMillion , and DJ Stacye J. Costumes are encouraged and there's no cover! 21+ are welcome! 

October 31 - Boos, Brews & Booze @ Checker Bar - There will be drink specials, karaoke, DJs, and a costume contest with cash prizes! 21+ are welcome and admission is free after 9 p.m.!
