Experience a Live Photoshoot From Behind the Lens

We've all seen beautiful shots of models wearing clothes on the cover of magazines, but we rarely think about all of the work behind creating that picture. Every aspect of that model's appearance has been sculpted. Their hair and makeup was done and the clothes that they are wearing were fitted to their bodies. The end result is always something appealing, but the process behind getting that picture is equally as appealing.

InkAddict has teamed up with District One Detroit to bring you a live behind the scenes look at a clothing photo shoot. They have teamed up with a collection of some of Detroit's biggest movers and shakers to team up for charity and  a once in a lifetime experience.

They will open up the doors of the InkAddict Flagship store this Saturday to let you get a behind the scenes look at a live photo shoot. Jason Hall from Slow Roll, Marty Sheedy from Project Scissor Gait, Amy "ACRONYM" Cooper and Dontae "Mr. Heatcam" Rockymore will be in house for the event and Atwater Brewery will be serving up some drinks. They are charging $10 to get in and drinks are FREE with admission for 21 and over.

We love the idea of hosting a live photo shoot so we reached out To District 1 Detroit to get some details about the event. Check out with they had to say and stop by the InkAddict Flagship at 8 p.m. this Saturday to see it all live and in person.

HID- What is PhotoFashion?
D1D- "PhotoFashion is an event where people get the opportunity to catch a behind the scenes photoshoot and how a brand is formulated. It's basically an excuse to have party. ;)"

HID- What will Jason Hall, Marty Sheedy, Dontae "Mr. Heatcam" Rockymore, Amy "ACRONYM" Cooper and drag race producer PAYSO each be doing at the event?
D1D- "One of our main goals is to showcase the best of what Detroit has to offer so it was a no brainier to reach out to these guys and see what their thoughts were as far as our style. We received an overwhelming response and all have agreed to not only model District 1 Detroit, but help promote the event as we want to make an impact for Detroit Dog Rescue. Eric Vincent from Ch. 955 is going to MC the event as well!"

HID- Is the beer really FREE?
D1D- "It is! Atwater brewery was kind enough to sponsor some of their most popular brews. All we ask for is a $10 donation at the door to help DDR."

HID- Why did you decide to donate part of the proceeds to The Detroit Dog Rescue?
D1D- "The greatest untold story about Detroit are the organizations that are putting in work and not looking for the glory. Being dog lovers and lovers of Detroit we enthusiastically wanted to help the ONLY NO KILL SHELTER in Detroit; plus DDR does an event in Birmingham called Doggie Couture so why not include them in PhotoFashion."

HID- Is there anything else you want us to know about the event?
D1D- "If you like what you see you will love District 1 Detroit’s PhotoFashion. Awesome people doing amazing things and a huge shout out to InkAddict for opening their home to us. The amount of support has been humbling and adds fuel to our drive. We may have a few more announcements, but you will have to stay tuned."

Her Dark Host Unplugged

This past Monday night Hip In Detroit hosted our second Unplugged event at the InkAddict Flagship space. This time around we invited Her Dark Host out, a bit different from our first evening with The HandGrenades. Once again this was an awesome experience, but a completely different vibe from our first Unplugged, and different than any Her Dark Host show that we have been to yet.
The band went completely unplugged, no microphones at all. Justin's voice filled the room and the entire band sounded amazing. Check out a couple of videos from the band's set below.

We'd like to thank Her Dark Host again for being a part of this event and also thank everyone that came out, and of course our partners for this event, InkAddict and Blumz. This was an amazing and memorable night!

An Amazing Kickoff of Detroit Unplugged with The HandGrenades

This past Thursday night Hip In Detroit hosted our first edition of Detroit Unplugged, a new series we are working on with InkAddict and with support from Blumz by JRDesigns. The HandGrenades were our first Unplugged band and they definitely set the bar high for all of the acts that are going to follow. It's no secret that we already love this band, but hearing their songs performed acoustically in this intimate setting was awesome, to say the least. In case you missed the event, check out a few videos from The HandGrenades' set below.

We hope that everyone that came out to this show had a great time and liked the InkAddict Flagship location. We love calling this place our home and can't wait to bring more people and more events into this space. To stay in the loop on our next Unplugged event, keep an eye on hipindetroit.com and make sure you "like" us on Facebook.

Huge shout out to The HandGrenades, InkAddict, Blumz and everyone that attended our first show at the Flagship! We can't wait to party with everyone again soon!

Hip In Detroit and InkAddict Present The HandGrenades Unplugged

Everyone seems to be nostalgic for the '90s lately. Grunge fashion is back in style and The Spice Girls have been back in the news. All this throwback goodness has had us hoping for the '90s to come back in full force, so we decided that we would bring back one of our favorite concepts from the '90s, MTV's Unplugged.

Remember the first time you saw Nirvana Unplugged? You could feel Kurt Cobain's piercing voice cut through your body. Somehow it made his music mean even more, if that was possible. I often wonder what it would have been like to be one of the lucky people in that room while it was recorded. Unplugged is about as up close and personal as you can get with a band.
Hip In Detroit has teamed up with InkAddict to invite one of Detroit's best bands, The HandGrenades, to get up close and personal with their fans. We asked them to completely unplug and perform inside the InkAddict Flagship Space in Ferndale. We are going to dim the lights, light some candles, and set the mood with some lovely flowers from Blumz by JRDesigns. Then, the boys will take over and perform.

Doors for the show will open at 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 22nd. The music will start shortly after. This is the first of many events that hipindetroit.com and InkAddict plan to team up and throw together. We are looking forward to having all of our fans visit the new location. We hope to have to have some of Detroit's most talented artists perform in the space in the coming months. We chose The Handgrenades because we know that they will make this night more than memorable. We can only imagine how amazing this set will sound.

It's $2 to get in the door and you are welcome to bring your own beverages to drink. 100% of the proceeds go to the band for putting on the performance. We are looking forward to revisiting one of the best parts of the '90s with all of you!
