It's Time to Dally in the Alley!

Dally in the Alley has been a staple of the Detroit community since in 1977. Sure, it didn't officially take its name until 1982, but the concept has stayed the same since the beginning.   The first Saturday after Labor Day, the local community of the corridor gathers to enjoy the art, music, and food of the city. The festival features an eclectic mix of Detroit's musical acts every September.

This year's Dally will feature performances by tons of artists, including Honeybabe, Mango Lane, Ancient Language (full band), Mega Powers, Junglefowl, Mother Cyborg, Tart, and Adje. For a full lineup and set times for the day click here. This year's food choices include Stache International and Delectabowl, for a full list of food choices click here.

Dally in the Alley takes place from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. this Saturday, September 9th. As always, the Dally is free for all! It is generally easy to park around the area without paying, but you may have to walk a few blocks to do so. So forgo the cute heels, wear some chucks, and be ready to walk around to a few stages to enjoy music. While you're walking from stage to stage, stop and check out some of the cool vendors and grab a snack or a drink to celebrate 40 years of Dally in the Alley fun inside the city's historic Cass Corridor!

Win Tickets to See Sam Patch at El Club!

Tim Kingsbury may have originally risen to fame with his band Arcade Fire, but recently it's his solo project Sam Patch that has been getting everyone's attention. He recently released his first solo album called Yeah You, And I last month on iTunes. Kingsbury wrote, played and recorded all of this music himself from 2014-2016 and he's finally ready to go on tour in support of the album.

He will be coming to Detroit to perform live this Friday, March 17th at El Club in Detroit. He has also recruited two amazing locals, Handgrenades and Honeybabe to open the show, so this is going to be a pretty great night for music. Tickets to get into the show are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. We also have one pair of tickets to give away to the show courtesy of Party Store Productions. If you would like to enter to win tickets to see the show for FREE please email your full name to hipindetroit@gmail.com with the subject line #SamPatch. Party with DUDE at El Club Saturday Night

El Club is the place to be both Friday and Saturday night this week! After you're done partying with us on Friday, head back to El Club on Saturday for DUDE's vinyl release show. DUDE is the latest project of Tony (Muggs) DeNardo. He's been playing under this name since 2012, but seems to be picking up steam and really gaining popularity lately. Head over and give his tunes a listen on bandcamp here. You can also check out the music video for the song "Not Exactly Where I Should Be", created by our friend Drew Podgorski of Please Don't Change.

This is just one of the 13 tracks that will be on Kid Gloves, DUDE's album that is being released this weekend. This is a limited edition release and this album is only getting pressed once. That means when these copies are gone, it's gone. So make sure you get to El Club this Saturday to pick up a copy!

Things are set to kick off at 9 p.m. on Saturday and admission is $10. Joining DUDE on the bill are The High Strung and Honeybabe. As always, all ages are welcome at El Club.

Shhhh. Don't Tell Anyone About Lumpfest!

This Saturday night there is a fest in Hamtramck that has kind of been on the down low. That's because it is taking place at a house. But, the lineup is so awesome that we had to share it with you!

This FREE fest features Tart, The Vonneguts, Five Pound Snap, White Bee, Honeybabe, Orange Atlas, Flour, The Q, Junk Food Junkies, Madelyn Grant and Apple Drank. These bands will be playing on two stages at 12038 Lumpkin in Hamtramck.

We absolutely love DIY venues and house shows! So we are looking forward to seeing what this show is all about and if 12038 Lumpkin will have more shows coming up. The show starts early at 5 p.m. BYOB and remember not to be a dick!
