Hip In Detroit's Picks for the Weekend: August 4-6

We already told you about Royal Oak Pride Fest! Here are some other fun things happening this weekend! 

Friday, August 4th - Life Long Garbage Album Release @ Small's: There are some amazing female fronted acts in Detroit and there's a new album coming out that features a whole bunch of them! Life Long Garbage is a Detroit Femal Fronted Punk Compilation Album that features bands like Rough Patch, The Lowcocks, Girl Fight, Carmel Liburdi, and more. The album features 15 bands total and you can give it a listen here. This Friday night, many of the bands included on the album will be performing at the release show at Small's, check out the full lineup here. All ages are welcome and doors open at 7 p.m.


Friday, August 4th - The Muggs @ Outer Limits Lounge: The Muggs take over Outer Limits Lounge this Friday night! This is the band's first show in almost a year, so don't miss it! They will be joined be Sugar Tradition and Clear Fields. Cover is $12 and 18+ are welcome. Doors open at 8 p.m.

Saturday, August 5th - Night of the Living Dead @ Senate Theatre: Get spooky at The Senate Theater this Saturday night! The theater will be showing Night of the Living Dead outdoors in the Senate Coney Lot. The screening is free to attend. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the movie starts at dusk. Don't forget to bring your own chair! 



Saturday, August 5th - Thirst Wave & Industrial Is Not Dead @ Small's: Dance your troubles away this Saturday night at Small's for Thirst Wave/Industrial Is Not Dead! Resident DJs Aaron Hingst, Jon Noble and Pinknoise spin New Wave + Retro Alternative, Post-Punk, Dark 80's + 90's, Goth, and Dark Wave all night. The party goes from 9 p.m. - 2 a.m. and 18+ are welcome. Cover is $5 for 21+ and $10 for 18-20.


Saturday, August 5th & Sunday, August 6th - Belle Isle Art Fair: The Belle Isle Art Fair returns to the island this Saturday and Sunday. This juried art fair will feature over 100 local artists, as well as food trucks, and other fun activities. The fair takes place near the James Scott Memorial Fountain and is open from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Sunday. Get a sneak peek of art that will be at the fair here
