Celebrate Dia De Los Muertos at Imperial

This Friday, November 2nd, Imperial will be hosting its annual Dia Del Los Muertos Celebration. This is the 6th year that the Ferndale staple will be holding this celebration, and every year they outdo themselves. The event will take place from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. The day will feature food, music, art, and celebration of loved ones that have passed.

Since Imperial is known for their great tacos and food, we will start with the food. They will have some very special items on the menu for Friday's event. They include:

Tamales served with red chili salsa your choice of:
pork tamales / cheese & jalapeƱo / chicken tamales

Taco de Lengua Frita/ fried ox tongue/ poblano salsa/ onion/ queso fresco/ cilantro

Taco de Tempeh/ pepita-serrano crema/ chile lime slaw

Caldo de Pescado/ seafood soup with snapper/ potatoes/ tomatoes/ herbs

Pan de la Muerte/ sweet cashew cream/ vegan coconut hot chocolate

Empanada de Calabaza en Tacha/ candied pumpkin/ roasted poblano peppers/ cinnamon-sugar/ red chili caramel

Starting at 6 p.m. Mariachi Femenil Detroit will be on site performing. This three piece female mariachi band from Detroit will be serenading customers throughout the evening. There will also be a community altar on site at Imperial to celebrate those that have passed. Patrons are encouraged to bring photos of their love ones to place on the altar. Last, but definitely not least, is the charity art show. Artists have created Dia De Los Muertos themed art that is currently being auctioned off on Ebay. You can see all of the items available here. Proceeds from the auction will go to Arts & Scraps, a Detroit nonprofit that re-imagines education through art integration using recycled materials.
This is always a great event, whether you go for the food, the art, or to celebrate your loved ones. For more information on Imperial's Dia De Los Muertos celebration, click here
