Hip in Detroit's Picks for the Weekend - October 25-27

We would tell you to go to Creepy Cheapy at The Crofoot this weekend because it definitely is the place to be, but it's sold out. So if you did get tickets, good for you. But if you didn't, here are some other things you should check out. 

Friday, October 25th - WDET's Rock & Roll Horror Show @ Cadieux Cafe: Our friends at WDET are throwing a big ol' Halloween party this Friday night at Cadieux Cafe! John Moshier will be your host, with tarot readings, a costume contest, and live music from The 3-D Invisibles and Eastside Elvis & the Motor City Mafia. Tickets are $25 and 21+ are welcome. 

Friday, October 25th - The Cult of Spaceskull @ Small's: Get ready for a crazy show when The Cult Of Spaceskull hits the stage at Small's Friday night! Also on the bill are The Amino Acids, Glass Chimera, and The Cult of Nasty. Doors open at 8 PM and 18+ are welcome. Cover is $15 for under 21, and $12 for 21+.

Saturday, October 26th - Funkoween: Funk Night is back! And this Saturday night they're kicking it off with a special Halloween edition! The party is happening at The Lincoln Factory and will feature funk & soul vinyl all night. There will also be vendors and a costume contest with cash prizes. The party goes from 9 PM - 3 AM, 21+ are welcome, and tickets are $10 in advance. 

Saturday, October 26th - Thirst Wave & Industrial Is Not Dead Halloween Party @ Small's: Small's schedule is full of fun stuff lately and this Saturday that fun continues with the Thirst Wave and Industrial Is Not Dead Halloween Party! Throw on your best costume for a chance to win great cash prizes and dance the night away to Goth, Industrial, 80's, 90's, New Wave, and more. There will also be tickets giveaways and lots of tricks and treats throughout the night. Doors open at 9 PM and 18+ is welcome. Cover is $15 for those under 21, $5 for 21+ before 10 PM, and $10 for 21+ after 10. 

Saturday, October 26th - Happy Endings @ Eastern Palace Club: If you head north a bit, there's another great Halloween dance party happening in Hazel Park at Eastern Palace Club with Happy Endings! They promise to provide spooky visuals, lots of fog, and Dark Wave and Goth music all night. 21+ are welcome and cover is free. This one goes from 10 PM- 2 AM.

Saturday, October 26th - Gusher @ UFO Bar: If you're not sure if you're into a full on Halloween bash or you're just looking for a good show to check out, head to UFO for Gusher this Saturday. They will be joined by Womb Worm, The Imaginatron, DJ Haunted Pumpkin, and Canal Radio. Doors open at 9 PM and the fun goes until 2 AM.

Friday, September 20th - Sunday, September 22nd - DIY Street Fair: The DIY Street Fair returns to Downtown Ferndale this weekend for three days of music, beer, and shopping local! The event takes place between Troy and 9 Mile on the East Side of Woodward, behind the WAB, The Loving Touch and The Emory. There will be over 150 artists setting up shop, plus free live music nightly. Check out the schedule of bands below.

Saturday, September 21st - The Ferndale Flea @ Vogue Vintage: If you love antiques and vintage wares, you have to make your way to Vogue Vintage this Saturday! They will be hosting the last Ferndale Flea of the season. Over 20 vintage and antique vendors will take over the parking lot from 9 AM - 6 PM, plus the shop will be open too, which also has an amazing collection of vintage furniture, clothing, collectibles and more. Admission is free! 

Friday, September 20th - Sunday, September 22nd - Ferndale Vintage Fashion Market @ The Rust Belt: We're not saying Ferndale is the place to be this weekend, but it kind of is the place to be this weekend. Right across the street from DIY and down the road from Vogue Vintage, the Ferndale Vintage Fashion Market will be taking over The Rust Belt for the weekend. Shop for great vintage clothing from over 20 vendors. Admission is free, hours are Friday noon - 9 PM, Saturday 11 AM - 9 PM, Sunday 11 AM - 6 PM. 

Saturday, September 21st - Six Feet Over Benefit Party @ Eastern Palace Club: Head to Eastern Palace Club in Hazel Park this Saturday night to raise money for Six Feet Over and check out a great show! The lineup for the night includes The Boy Detective, St. Thomas Boys Academy, Geranium Red, Dads on Couches, and Graders. Cover is a suggested donation of $10, but you can always give more! doors open at 6 PM. Six Feet Over is a Michigan-based nonprofit working to spread awareness about suicide prevention and provide financial assistance to suicide loss survivors.

Friday, January 19th - Clueless @ The Redford Theatre: Whether you know every line by heart or you've never seen it before, you won't want to miss Clueless this Friday night at The Redford Theatre! Join Cher, Tai, Dionne, and the rest of the crew for a trip back to the 90's. We're sure the outfits will be on point in the audience and nostalgia will be in full force at this screening! Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for kids and seniors. Get yours in advance here. The show starts at 8 p.m. and we don't know about you, but we can't wait to hear what songs the organist plays before the show and at intermission for this one! 

Saturday, January 20th - Haute to Death @ Marble Bar: Haute to Death takes over Marble Bar once again this weekend so you can take over the dance floor! This time around, Ash & Jon will be joined by special guest Savannah G. Tickets are $11.45 in advance and can be purchased here. The night kicks off at 9 p.m.

Saturday, January 20th - Eastern Palace Club One Year Anniversary: There's a different kind of dance party happening if you head north on 75 this Saturday night! Eastern Palace Club is celebrating their 1 year anniversary with the one and only DJ Sharknado! If you haven't seen DJ Sharknado before, you're in for a treat. And if you haven't been to Eastern Palace Club yet, get ready to be transported to Key West when you step foot in this Hazel Park tiki bar! We're sure this party will be a blast, so check it out! Entry is free. The party starts at noon and goes all day with DJ Sharknado starting at 9 p.m. Congratulations on your first year, EPC! 

Sunday, January 21st - Fleatroit @ The Majestic: Fleatroit returns to The Majestic and The Garden Bowl this Sunday for a fun filled afternoon of vintage shopping, mimosas, live DJs, and more! Admission is free and the shops are open from 1-6 p.m.

Friday, July 21st - Sunday, July 23rd - Stroh Down @ Outer Limits Lounge: The third annual Stroh Down takes over Outer Limits this weekend! The event will bring over a dozen bands and plenty of Stroh's to the corner of Canniff & Buffalo in Hamtramck this Friday through Sunday. Some of the acts on the bill include Caveman & Bam Bam, Fen Fen, Craig Brown Band, Zilched, Wild Shape, and Prude Boys. Check out the full lineup and set times here. $15 gets you in each night. The music starts at 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. 

Friday, July 21st - Retro Pop - A Totally 80's Dance Party @ Small's: Travel back in time to the 1980s at Small's this Friday night! DJ Pleasure Kitten, Elektrosonik, and Aaron Hingst will be providing the tunes for the evening with nothing but 80's Pop, Dance, New Wave, Rock and electronic all night. So, put on your favorite 80s gear and get out on the dance floor! 18+ are welcome. Cover is $3 for 21+ or $10 for 18-20. The fun starts at 9 p.m. and goes until 2 a.m.

Saturday, July 22nd - Cyadine @ Redrunn Skate Shop: There's a new skate shop in the area and this Saturday night they're hosting a show! Head to Redrunn Skate Shop at 13 & Mound in Warren to check out Cyadine with Grand Snake. Cover is only $10, all ages are welcome, and if you're 21+ BYOB. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the bands start at 7. There will also be an art show and there's lots of cool merch in the shop, so make sure to get there early and check everything out while you're there! 

Saturday, July 22nd - Suck It Suicide Jean Short Party @ Eastern Palace Club: Suck It Suicide is hosting their 12th Annual Jean Short Party this Saturday night! This is one of the biggest fundraisers for this amazing organization, whose main purpose is to help those who have recently lost someone to suicide with financial support for funerals, clean-up and memorial services. This time around, the Jean Short Party is taking over Eastern Palace Club in Hazel Park. The night will include music from The Galbraiths, Strange Heart, The Underdog, and The Ryan & Michelle Show, as well as raffles, a LEGO memorial wall, and BBQ from Smoked Lotus. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance here. 21+ are welcome and doors open at 6 p.m.

Sunday, July 23rd - Rockabilly Summer Motor Expo @ Token Lounge: Head down to Westland this Sunday evening for a the Rockabilly Summer Motor Expo at the Token Lounge! Pop up your pompadour and get ready for a fun evening with The Firewalkers, Jane Rose & The Deadends, and Bones Maki. There will also be cool cars, vendors, and a pin-up contest! The car show goes all day from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m., then the music goes from 6-10 p.m. Tickets start at $20 and can be purchased in advance here.
