Get ready, Detroit! Bikini Kill is coming to town, and if you want to see true grunge legends in person, you don't want to miss this show. The dream of the '90s is alive with Bikini Kill!

This legendary feminist punk band launched a political and musical movement in the early '90s, which is more relevant today than ever.

With Kathleen Hanna's riveting stage presence and her bestselling memoir, "Rebel Girl: My Life As A Feminist Punk," Bikini Kill's influence on culture and music continues to spark critical discussion. Their North American tour kicks off August 15th in Los Angeles, featuring their iconic lineup of Kathleen Hanna on vocals, Tobi Vail on drums, Kathi Wilcox on bass, and guitarist Sara Landeau. They will be playing the Masonic Temple in Detroit on August 31, 2024. Get your tickets here NOW!

Win Tickets to See The Julie Ruin at Marble Bar

Kathleen Hanna is a musical legend and a feminist icon. She has been a part of some of the most famous female bands in history, including Bikini Kill and Le Tigre. She is also one of the founders of the famous 90s riot grrrl movement and is a vocal activist and passionate writer. She is also a fucking rock star!

Kathleen Hanna is what music is all about. The passion that she has when she takes the stage has to be experienced to be understood. Her latest project, The Julie Ruin, has been together since 2009 and they recently released a new album called Hit Reset. They also released a new music video for the single "I'm Done", which you can check out here:

As you can see, Kathleen is still killing it. The band is currently on tour and somehow Party Store Productions convinced them to come play Marble Bar this Friday, July 15th. This is a once in lifetime chance to be in a small intimate setting with one of the most powerful female icons of our generation. Tickets to get into the show are $16  in advance and they can be purchased here. Tickets will go up to $18 a person the night of the show. We also have one pair of tickets to give away thanks to Party Store Productions. If you would like to enter to win a pair of tickets to get into the show please email your full name to hipindetroit@gmail.com with the subject line #julieruin. We will draw one lucky person the morning of the show and will send them details on how to claim their prize.

Doors for the show open at 9 p.m. this Friday!

Win Tickets to The Julie Ruin at The Loving Touch!

In 1997 Kathleen Hanna took a break from Bikini Kill and put out a solo album called Julie Ruin. She attempted to form a live group to play those songs and instead ended up forming Le Tigre. That first Le Tigre album is one of my all time favorite records and Kathleen is a musical genius as far as I'm concerned. Years later, in 2010 she reopened her musical vault and finally put together a group with Kathi Wilcox, Kenny Mellman, Carmine Covell and Sara Landeau appropriately called The Julie Ruin. They played their first show in Brooklyn, New York in 2010 and their first album as a band was released in 2013, entitled Run Fast

The Julie Ruin are coming to Detroit to play The Loving Touch on April 8th alongside Screaming Females. Hearing that Kathleen Hanna is in the band is enough to get me to the show, but in case you need a little more of a push, we are giving away one set of tickets. To enter to win, please email your full name to hipindetroit@gmail.com. We will email one lucky person a few days before the show and their name will be on the guest list plus one.

Check out The Julie Ruin's video for “Oh Come On” and come out next Tuesday to see them live.
