Win Tickets to the 89X Homie Awards at The Crofoot

This Saturday, January 21st 89X will recognize some of the best that Detroit has to offer at The Homie Awards at The Crofoot in Pontiac. Now in its second year, this awards ceremony recognizes the bands and artists that make Detroit what it is. Actually, it's more of a party than it is a ceremony. There will be live music throughout the night from Sycamour, Shapes & Colors, The Banshee Pilot and Man Eating Lion. Some of your favorite Detroit area bands will also be in house in hopes of grabbing those awards. Plus, the personalities you know and love from 89X will be there hosting the event and giving away Homies throughout the evening.

Tickets to attend event are only $10. You can pick yours up in advance here or at UHF in Royal Oak. Thanks to our friends at The Crofoot we are also giving away a pair of tickets to this party. If you would like to enter to win, send your name to hipindetroit@gmail.com with #Homie in the subject line. We will draw one lucky winner on Saturday morning and they will get into the party with a friend for free.

Doors are set to open at 7 p.m. on Saturday and all ages are welcome to attend this event. For more info on The Homie Awards and to see a full list of award categories, click here.

InkAddict: We Want Your Blood!

This Friday, September 18th, InkAddict's Flagship store in Ferndale will host a blood drive. They have teamed up with some of our very favorite local companies, including Ironclad, 89x, Atwater Brewery, Dirt Fest, and 37 Studios, to bring the community together to donate a pint or two of blood.

Donating blood is one of those things that you don’t really think about until you’re in a position to need it. Statistically someone finds themselves in the need of blood every 2 seconds and only about 5% of the population is actively donating. Obviously, this needs to change. Donating blood is easy, simple, quick and safe. For years people with tattoos were told that they weren’t allowed to donate and InkAddict made it their mission to let people know that this is no longer the case. The coolest thing about donating your blood is that you won’t really miss it and it will replace itself pretty fast. But, when that blood helps save a life, you will realize how irreplaceable your donation truly is.
In true InkAddict style, this blood drive will also serve as a little celebration. They will have activities, food, and refreshments throughout the day and music in the evening. Wolfshark, Narco Debut, and The Scenery will all be playing acoustic sets starting at 7 p.m. There will be live painting and drawing from local artists from IronClad Tattoo, Lance Keller StudiosSignature TattooGypsy King Tattoos, and Tribute Tattoo Parlor. At the end of the night they will also have a silent auction to help raise money for the American Red Cross. The drive will run from Noon 'til 11 p.m. this Friday. The space is open to the public and everyone is welcome.

The InkAddict Flagship store is located at the corner of Marshall and Woodward in downtown Ferndale. We are honored to share a space with the crew and despite being scared of needles, I pledge to attend and make a donation. I am asking all of you to make a point to stop in, see the space, say hello, and donate a little bit of that life sustaining blood.
