13 Years of Keeping It Hip

Since 2012, Hip in Detroit has been your go-to source for discovering what's new, fun, and uniquely Detroit. From concerts to coffee shops, restaurants to retail, we’ve spent over a decade sharing the people, places, and events that make this city incredible. We're proud to be a platform built on passion, authenticity, and positivity — and we’re just getting started.

But like everything worth doing, it takes a little help behind the scenes.

July Is Sponsorship Month

Every July, we open the door to new sponsors and supporters. This annual tradition helps us cover the costs of running Hip in Detroit — things like hosting our website, podcast production, editing software, gear, and other tools that keep this DIY dream alive.

If you’re a local business or organization, we’d love to promote you as an official Hip in Detroit Sponsor. Sponsorship is just $50 for the entire year, and your name/logo will be featured on our website and regularly across our stories and social content.

Who We Are

Hip in Detroit is run by two lifelong friends — Christie Laabs and Sadie Quagliotto — who’ve shared a passion for music, food, fashion, and community for over 25 years. Together, we’ve built a positive, welcoming space that focuses on what we love in Metro Detroit. You won’t find snark, gossip, or clickbait here — just authentic stories and recommendations from two people who genuinely love this city.
