This Weekend: DIY Street Fair + the Funky Ferndale Art Fair

This weekend, Downtown Ferndale will be overtaken with art, music, food, and the DIY spirit. Two yearly festivals will close down 9 Mile for the weekend to celebrate maker culture and community.

DIY Street Fair will take over the East side of 9 Mile this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The three-day festival features over 150 makers, 15 bands (including national acts), and a variety of food and drinks.  This year's musical acts include Flobots, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Haley Heyndrickx, and the Passalacqua reunion that we have been dreaming of. There is even a cool yoga session you can be a part of!

The West side of 9 Mile will have more of a fine art vibe. Think investment pieces that you hang in the living room or something hand blown that took years to learn how to craft. There are around 100 artists and 30 writers/authors that are featured on this side of the city. The FFAF will also be open all three days!

Both festivals are free to attend all weekend. Parking can be hard to find, but if you are willing to pay, Credit Union One and The dot are the easiest places to park. There will be food trucks at both events, but all of Downtown Ferndale's restaurants will be open and happy to serve you if you want to get out of the sun and off your feet for a little bit.
