Hip in Detroit's Picks for the Weekend: July 22-24

Friday, July 22nd - Sunday, July 24th - Stroh Down @ Outer Limits Lounge: OLL is hosting a three day festival with over a dozen bands this weekend! The lineup includes Werewolf Jones, Tin Foil, Stools, Toeheads, John Salvage & New Twenty Saints, Hello Dollars, Loose Koozies, Kelly Jean Caldwell, and more. $10 gets you into all three nights. Plus, during the day on Saturday and Sunday there will be events too! Saturday, they will host the Schlitzkrieg Record Swap from noon - 6 p.m. and on Sunday Fleatroit will be taking over from noon - 6 p.m.

Friday, July 22nd - Food Not Class Fundraiser @ The Wastement: It's been awhile since we've been to a basement show, but this bill might get us to venture to the underworld once again! Break Anchor will be playing The Wastement in Warren along with Suburban Delinquents, Lily Livers, and Bastardous (who hasn't played a show in quite some time). Cover is $7 at the door with proceeds going to Food Not Class. Things kick off at 7 p.m. and The Wastement can be found at 8172 Francine St. in Warren.

Friday, July 22nd - Cheapshow @ PJ's Lager House: Don't miss Cheapshow Friday night at PJ's Lager House along with Paper Lanterns, Midwest Flair, and Thanks I'm Trying. Cover to see these four bands is only $10 and 21+ are welcome. Doors open at 8 p.m. Carmel Liburdi will be playing with Cheapshow and she just had a birthday. So, make sure to wish her a happy birthday if you see her at the show!

Saturday, July 23rd - Princess Goes to the Butterfly Museum @ Small's: This one is sold out, but it's so cool that we had to put it on our list for this weekend! Michael C. Hall's band Princess Goes to the Butterfly Museum is playing Small's this Saturday night! Maybe somehow, if you're really lucky, you can manage to find someone that is willing to sell you a ticket. Lorelei K is joining them for the evening and doors open at 8 p.m.

Friday, July 22nd and Saturday, July 23rd - The Wizard of Oz @ The Redford Theatre: Beat the heat and escape to the "Merry Old Land of Oz" this weekend at The Redford Theatre. The Redford is already a magical place to see a movie and we can't think of a better place to watch The Wizard of Oz on the big screen! Showings will take place on Friday at 8 p.m., and Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are only $5 and can be purchased in advance here
