Hip in Detroit's Picks for the Weekend: May 21-23

Friday, May 21st - Eastside Still Alive @ Cadieux Cafe: The weather is nice which makes it an awesome night to hang out outside and listen to some live music. Eastside Still Alive is a cover band featuring Laura Mendoza, Ricky Rat, Brian McCarty, and Joe Leone. The show goes from 7-11 p.m. and cover is free.

Saturday, May 22nd - Chains & Leather Up Your A** @ Outer Limits Lounge: This event isn't quite as crazy as the name makes it sound. Head to Outer Limits Lounge for a night of "heavy metal hell". Heavy & Beyond is teaming up with their friends from Philly to spin heavy metal vinyl all night long. Throw on some leather, grab a few beers, and listen to some heavy tunes. Cover is free and the event goes from 6 p.m. - 11 p.m.

Saturday, May 22nd - The Hitch-Hiker @ Senate Theater (outdoors):
The Senate Coney Island burned down years ago and never reopened and now the Senate Theater has transformed the area into an outdoor movie theatre. Local artists Blight Hernandez and Naye-Taye hand painted a 400 square foot mural that resembles a movie screen and this Saturday, the Senate will be projecting The Hitch-Hiker on this new outdoor "screen".  Admission is free. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the movie starts at 9.

Sunday, May 23rd - The Goonies @ The Redford Theatre: This Sunday, The Redford Theatre will be showing the classic '80s film The Goonies! Tickets are only $5 and kids 12 and under get free admission. The movie starts at 2 p.m. Goonies never say die!
