Get a Good Meal at FOLK Detroit

Walt Disney once said, “Whatever you do, do it well. Do it so well that when people see you do it, they will want to come back and see you do it again, and they will want to bring others and show them how well you do what you do.” FOLK Detroit makes good food out of good things and they do it really well, so we wanted to tell you all about it.

This intimate space offers a scaled down all day brunch menu that features a limited selection of seasonally made from scratch comfort foods, including vegan and gluten-free options. Their menu is a good example of the principle that less is more, meaning it does not have a ton of items to choose from, but what they offer is well made, locally sourced, and special. This includes selections like breakfast quiche, make your own avocado toast, and a warm rice bowl. FOLK makes as many of their ingredients in house as possible and they change their menu seasonally. You can tell that they put a lot of thought and time into what they are making and because of that, everything that we ordered during our first visit was great! We personally recommend the hash plate made vegan style.  The mix of potatoes (sweet, red and Russet) alongside the tempeh and the side salad were to die for, delicious and full or original flavors that we haven't experienced before. We can't wait to go back because we can't get anything like that anywhere else in Detroit.

FOLK employees make a sustainable wage and they treat their guests like a million bucks. There is an 18% gratuity added to every bill and you need to bring cash if you want to add more onto that tip. FOLK is open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The restaurant also features a full coffee, espresso, and tea bar that compliments their food selection. You can stop in for a coffee or sit down and stay for a meal.  They have community tables and they offer carry out anytime that they are open.
